The shorts are based on the original Teen Titans TV series. The original cast of Teen Titans reprise all of their roles. It was originally believed that the success of the shorts would lead to a revival of the original series. However, it led to the creation of the spin-off Teen Titans Go! The animated shorts retain the design of all characters albeit in chibi style , equipment and buildings from the original series.
